We here at Podcast Evolved realize that the world has pretty much turned upside down in the past 2 weeks. There’s no avoiding that. Over the last five years, we have seen support for the show and community soar to levels we never thought possible, and the entire Evolved team is in awe of every one of our listeners, community members, and patrons. We all do this because it is fun, not because we are trying to make money. Our Patreon page has been around for almost two years now, and in that time it has grown to fund all our expenses, including the website, community giveaways, and now our patron-exclusive commissioned artwork. Truthfully, we cannot thank every one of you enough.
That said, we know the world has gotten real weird real fast. None of us have a good idea of what will happen tomorrow, let alone next week or next month. Some of us are working our normal jobs from home, some are working reduced hours, some are not working until their business opens again, and some have likely lost their jobs, at least temporarily. This is a new normal for all of us, and is difficult for many. We hope the world will return to something more recognizable soon, but we also know that isn’t going to happen tomorrow.
Because of everything above, the Podcast Evolved team doesn’t feel it appropriate to collect Patreon money from our patrons while they may be worried about paying bills and trying to stay healthy. For the month of April, Podcast Evolved will be pausing our Patreon billing cycle, meaning you will not get charged for your scheduled donation tier, whatever that may be. Your patron rewards will continue to accrue and be distributed, and anyone who would like to join or leave our Patreon are free to do so. We know it may not be a lot of money overall, but we think this is the right thing to do given the circumstances.
If you still feel compelled to donate to the podcast, we are accepting donations directly through our PayPal account at paypal.me/PodcastEvolved, but by no means do we expect you to do so. We hope all remains well with everyone, and look forward to getting back to normal with everyone in the coming months. Please, stay safe, follow government guidelines, and try to enjoy a good podcast or two if you can.
