SUMMARY
The Carrow Conflict was a conflict between human, Sangheili, and Jiralhanae forces in the Joint Occupation Zone on the planet of Carrow in September 2558. The fighting began between the human and Sangheili colonists on the planet, which was being mediated by an envoy from the Unified Earth Government, but evolved into a full-scale battle after a Sangheili uprising led by Thars 'Sarov removed the more moderate Sangheili leader Rojka 'Kasaan. To aid in the uprising, Thars employed Jiralhanae chieftan Hekabe to assist in the initial attack on Carrow. This proved to be a bad decision, however, after Hekabe revealed his true purpose for fighting, recovering the Vertex, a Forerunner device that can control the minds of all the Sharquoi on the planet. Hekabe successfully accessed the Vertex, and used it on the forces on Carrow, but was eventually subdued by a counterattack by human forces supported by Spartan-II Gray Team.
