ANCIENT BEGINNINGS
After a long war between the San'Shyuum and the Sangheili, the two species finally formed an alliance, creating the Covenant. A group of Sangheili, however, did not agree with this alliance and fled to a hidden Forerunner shield world known as the Refuge to continue their community outside of Covenant influence. Their newfound peace did not last long, however, as Covenant forces followed them and forced the new colony into isolation.
MODERN CONCLUSIONS
Thousands of years later, following the end of the Human-Covenant War and dissolution of the Covenant, a San'Shyuum and his ship returned to find the lost colony and discover it still existed, though in dire straits.

Aside from the Refuge, High Charity and Janjur Qom serve as the settings for Broken Circle.
